AQS WATCHMAN
Air Quality System

Air quality monitoring station designed for underground mining. Provides real-time data on ambient conditions and concentrations. of toxic gases , for greater safety and operational efficiency .

Main Advantages of installing a Watchman in your operation;

Greater Safety: Rapid detection of toxic gases, allowing immediate preventive actions.

Energy Savings: By optimizing ventilation based on real-time data, energy consumption is reduced.

Reduced Wait Times: Precise monitoring to determine when it's safe to return to the work front after a blast.

Increased productivity: By reducing wait times, operational time is increased, increasing the progress rate.

Less Downtime

Gas monitoring reduces wait times after blasting, speeding up the return of workers to the work area, which can translate into a 15-20% increase in productivity.

What does an AQS Monitor measure?
What improvements does it enable?

WHAT DATA DOES THE STATION MONITOR?

  • Gases: CO, NO2, NO, O2, H2S, SO2, ClO2, Cl2, NH3, CO2, LEL Methane, LEL Propane, HCN.

  • Airflow: Measurement of multiple airflows in interconnected tunnels.

  • Humidity and Temperature: Dry and wet bulb sensors.

  • Pressure: atmospheric and differential.

SCADA AND PLC INTEGRATION

The Vigilante AQS™ and other Maestro Digital Mine monitoring technologies can be easily integrated with control systems such as SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).

This is achieved by using standard communication protocols such as Ethernet, Modbus TCP/IP, and RS485.

SCADA: Enables real-time monitoring and control of critical mine systems, such as ventilation and air quality . AQS Vigilante data can be viewed and managed from a centralized interface at surface level.

PLCs: These act as automatic process controllers. The Vigilante AQS can send data directly to PLCs, which then automatically adjust ventilation systems or issue alerts in the event of dangerous gas levels.

DEMAND-BASED ACTIVATION

The information collected by Vigilante AQS can be integrated with ventilation control systems so that fans are automatically activated or adjusted based on detected conditions, thus optimizing on-demand ventilation.

For example, when Vigilante AQS sensors detect a decrease in air quality due to the presence of toxic gases or after a blast, the ventilation system is activated to improve conditions in that specific area, rather than ventilating the entire mine at full capacity.

APPLICATIONS AND USES

Increased Productivity: Allows operators to return to the field more quickly after blasting, thanks to accurate, real-time air quality information.

Ventilation Optimization: Monitor and control ventilation systems, reducing energy costs and ventilation times to get back to work faster: Ventilate where it's most needed!

Modularity: The system is scalable and can be customized according to customer needs (up to 8 additional sensors).

COMPATIBILITY WITH PLEXUS POWERNET

Plexus PowerNet™ provides a robust and reliable data and power network that facilitates the transmission of real-time information from devices like the Vigilante AQS to the surface or control center. Using Power over Ethernet (PoE+), Plexus PowerNet transmits both power and data over a single coaxial cable.

Simple Connectivity: Vigilante AQS sensors connect directly to the Plexus PowerNet network, enabling continuous monitoring and transmission of critical data without the need for complicated infrastructure with separate power and data cables.

INTEGRATION WITH VENTSIM CONTROL

Ventsim™ is a software specialized in simulation and control of ventilation in underground mines.

By integrating Vigilante AQS with Ventsim, mine ventilation can be simulated and adjusted in real time based on sensor data, optimizing energy efficiency.

With Ventsim Control, operators can graphically view ventilation conditions and make dynamic adjustments to improve air distribution.
